Fly to the Lower Zambezi National Park, an area of unspoilt wilderness and a striking sanctuary for wildlife in its natural habitat. Lying on the northern bank of the mighty Zambezi River and covering an area of almost 4,100 sq km, the river's verdant floodplain attracts a variety of species including massive herds of elephant, and a spectacular array of birdlife.
You’ll be staying at the luxurious Sausage Tree Camp, in one of five generous ‘Signature Tents’ featuring private decks with plunge pools, and views over low-set reed islands teeming with game. Settle in and enjoy the view with sundowners.
Sausage Tree Camp | Meals: BLD
Sausage Tree Camp offers some of the finest game viewing of anywhere in Africa. Its location within the Lower Zambezi National Park on the banks of the Zambezi River means that game-viewing activities take place on the water — by boat and canoe — and on land.
Enjoy two full days exploring the national park with a whole host of activities to choose from. An early morning canoe safari is one of the most serene and exciting ways to explore the Zambezi River. A half-day game drive will bring close encounters with elephant, buffalo, lion and possibly the endangered wild dog, and a guided walking safari will highlight the smaller creatures of the bush.

Fly east to Mfuwe where you are met and transferred by light aircraft to remote Sungani, the perfect place for luxurious adventure. The elegant custom-designed tents featuring private decks and plunge pools are edged by a bountiful lagoon and sheltered by magnificent indigenous trees. Settle in for sundowners and a delicious dinner of locally sourced African flavours and fine wines.
Sungani | Meals: BLD
Spend two full days exploring the magnificent South Luangwa National Park. This world-renowned wildlife haven supports large populations of Thornicroft’s giraffe, and herds of elephant and buffalo often several-hundred strong. The vegetation is diverse and keen spotters are rewarded with incredible sightings of lion and any number of antelopes from bushbuck and puku to Greater Kudu and impala. Each day enjoy a morning and afternoon game drive with sundowners and a thrilling night drive. Or, as the South Luangwa is ‘home’ of the walking safari, head out on foot with your guide to see the bush from a different perspective.
Sungani | Meals: BLD
This morning, enjoy another guided wildlife experience. Perhaps capture some striking shots at the Sungani photographic hide adjacent to the watering hole. Sit atop the viewing platform on the lagoon and wait to catch a glimpse of the elusive Roan antelope, watch the hippos frolic, or witness a crocodile capture his next meal.
This afternoon, transfer to Kulandila, a traditional bush safari camp on the magnificent banks of the Luangwa River, just slightly upstream from Sungani Lodge. Nestled among towering Lala palms, the luxurious camp consists of four elevated tents that back onto a serene lagoon. Settle in with a dip in the pool and relax on the viewing decks with vast vistas of the Luangwa. Perhaps take a nice long bubble bath while you soak up the sights and sounds. End the day with an unforgettable African Sunset and romantic dining under the stars.

Take a short flight back to Mfuwe Airport for your onward flight to Likoma Island via Lilongwe. If you could choose an island in Lake Malawi to be romantically castaway on, Likoma would be it. Situated in the north-eastern corner of Lake Malawi, the island is surrounded by crystal clear waters, bone-white beaches, and an abundance of cichlids. Kaya Mawa offers couples and honeymooners an indulgent getaway. Experience sandy bays, lush forests of baobab and mango trees, diverse marine life and warm, smiling locals. Perhaps take your first walk around the bay, relax with a massage at the spa, or take to the turquoise waters for snorkelling.
Kaya Mawa | Meals: BLD
Spend three days of blissful romance relaxing on the island. Diverse marine life, with 400 species of colourful cichlid fish create a magical viewing experience for snorkellers. Keen sailors might like to hop aboard a Topaz for a sailing safari. Perhaps grab a kayak and explore the waters beyond the bay, as colourful fish flash in the clear water below. Feel the warmth of the sun on your back as you glide across the lake on a stand-up paddle board or walk to the Katundu community workshop to meet the smiling locals. Alternatively, simply laze on the beach with a picnic basket, washed down with a glass of South African wine, Malawian beer or a locally distilled gin cocktail.
