This 15-day adventure will immerse you in the varied wonders of alluring South Africa and Zambia. You’ll travel in true A&K style, staying in luxurious lodges as you discover the best of South Africa’s famed Cape Winelands, drink in panoramic views of the Atlantic coast and be awestruck by the majesty of thundering Victoria Falls. In South Africa’s premier Sabi Sand Game Reserve you’ll revel in encounters with Africa’s iconic species, from lion and elephant to the endangered Wild Dog, whilst in Zambia’s Lower Zambezi you’ll see game from safari vehicles on morning and afternoon game drives, get up close on foot and float by canoe gently past herds which frequent the river and its banks.

Enjoy a full day tour of Cape Town. Head off for an ascent by aerial cableway up Cape Town’s iconic Table Mountain (weather permitting) for unparalleled views of the city and Atlantic Ocean. Afterwards, experience an orientation in the history of Cape Town’s with a visit to the Castle of Good Hope, Cape Towns oldest building, and the District 6 Museum.
This afternoon, explore the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (Zeitz MOCAA), a public, not-for-profit institution that exhibits, collects, preserves and researches contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora.
Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel | Meals: B
Venture south past the picture-perfect beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay, beautifully located at the base of the towering Twelve Apostles Mountains. Descend into Hout Bay valley, with its bustling fishing harbour and on to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve at the end of the Cape Peninsula, home to a number of rare species. Look out for whales and sea birds from the viewing point. Continue on to visit Boulders, a lovely beach famous for its colony of endangered Jackass Penguins.
This afternoon, visit Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens. Set on the south-eastern slopes of Table Mountain, this living repository is the only major botanical garden in the world entirely devoted to the flora of its own country. Kirstenbosch features 4,700 species growing on over 1,200 acres of expertly landscaped gardens.

Leave behind the city to explore the famous Cape Winelands where picturesque vineyards are set against imposing granite peaks and eye-catching Cape Dutch homesteads nestle under avenues of oaks. Stellenbosch is the centre of the local wine making industry and is surrounded by hundreds of vineyards. You’ll have the chance to visit some privately owned wineries, which date back hundreds of years, and enjoy a variety of tastings.
Check into Leeu Estates, an exclusive five-star hideaway and boutique winery in the Western Cape, an area famous for its breath-taking natural beauty, singular charm and a reputation as one of the world's great wine and food destinations. The exquisite, restored 19th-century Manor House is surrounded by picturesque gardens and features 20 individually styled rooms and suites, Amala Spa, infinity pool and six spacious cottages.

Enjoy a day at leisure in the Winelands. Options include a complimentary curated tasting where your hosts will guide you in the finer nuances of their premium handcrafted wines, use of the spa facilities, an exploration of the beautiful surroundings at Leeu Estates, or taking a scheduled shuttle to visit other properties in the Leeu Collection – Leeu House and Le Quartier Français. Other activities (at additional cost) include a river walk accompanied by a picnic basket filled with delicious treats or memorable therapies and treatments at Leeu Spa by Healing Earth.

Fly to the privately owned and wildlife-rich Lion Sands located in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, offering the very finest game-viewing safari experience. This afternoon, once you are settled into your elegant accommodations, set off in search of Africa’s iconic species — elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo and leopard — and other wildlife. To enhance your game-viewing experience, each game drive is led by two safari professionals: a driver-guide, trained to safely manoeuvre you up close to South Africa’s wild residents as well as brief you on any given species’ characteristics, and a tracker, an expert at identifying animals, following their signs and predicting where they are likely to be found.
Lion Sands River Lodge | Meals: BLD
Begin two days of immersion in your private game reserve, embarking on game drives in open safari vehicles for optimum viewing and exploring on early morning game walks with your ranger. This region of Africa is noted for its high density of wildlife, which often appear just steps in front of you. As you explore, learn about the flora and fauna as well as basic tracking skills. At dusk, stop for a sundowner, and then search for nocturnal animals. Return to your lodge for dinner.
Lion Sands River Lodge | Meals: BLD
Fly to Livingstone, Zambia, and then transfer to Mukwa River Lodge, an exclusive boutique retreat situated on the banks of the renowned Zambezi River. From the comfort of your own private deck or plunge pool, you’ll be able to relax and observe myriad wildlife approach the river to have a drink, or graze on the banks of the Zambezi.
This evening, set out on a cruise on the Zambezi River. View hippo, crocodile and exotic birdlife, and discover how, after an unforgettable African sunset, a magical charm settles over the river.
Mukwa River Lodge | Meals: BLD
Today is at leisure at Mukwa River Lodge, discovering the beauty of the Zambezi. Experience a guided tour of the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls (Zambian side), a Livingstone Town Tour including the local market and museums as well as sunrise and sunset river activities.

Transfer back to Livingstone Airport for your flight to the Lower Zambezi National Park, an area of stunning wilderness. Bed down at Royal Zambezi, a luxurious lodge located on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River featuring 15 beautiful, thatched tents with private deck and plunge pool with views over an expanse of narrow channels and low-set reed islands, teeming with game.
Royal Zambezi Lodge | Meals: BLD
Three full days to explore this amazing National Park with many activities to choose from. An early morning canoe safari is one of the most serene (and exciting) ways to explore the Zambezi River. A half day game drive will bring close encounters with elephant, buffalo, lion and possibly the endangered wild dog, and a guided walking safari will highlight the smaller creatures of the bush.
Fishing, birding safaris and river cruises will further reveal the many wonders of the river and nearby wilderness. You may also have the opportunity to visit the Chiawa village and meet some of the local people.
Alternatively, you may choose to enjoy the facilities on offer at Royal Zambezi, such as a pampering treatment in the beautiful open-air Royal Zambezi Bush Spa, serenely overlooking the water (additional cost).
