Today, drive to Amboseli National Park at the base of soaring, snowcapped Mount Kilimanjaro, which, at 5,895 metres, is the highest freestanding mountain in the world. Arrive at your lodge, an eco-friendly property offering fabulous views of Kilimanjaro located on a private conservancy of 3,000 acres just outside the Amboseli National Park.

This afternoon, explore the acacia woodland, freshwater swamps, scrub brush and open plains in search of wildlife. Amboseli’s huge draw is its elephants. Watch as big herds roam the dusty plains, including “tuskers,” large, older bulls who have grown impressive tusks.

This evening head out on a night game drive on the Tawi private conservancy to try and find nocturnal wildlife.

Tawi Lodge | Meals: BLD

Set out on early morning and afternoon game drives, crisscrossing the landscape in search of the park’s large herds of elephants, as well as zebra, wildebeest, giraffe and buffalo along the salt pan trails. Prepare for predator sightings as opportunistic animals begin roaming the plains in search of prey. You may also see interesting smaller mammals such as black-backed jackals and the delightful bat-eared fox. Over 47 different kinds of birds of prey have been recorded here, including two rarities – the Taita falcon and the Southern Banded harrier eagle. Return to your lodge for dinner, followed by a relaxing evening under African skies.

Transfer for the flight northwards via Nairobi to the award-winning Ol Pejeta Conservancy to Sanctuary Tambarare. Tucked in the shadow of Mt Kenya, Sanctuary Tambarare looks out across 90,000 acres of unspoilt land, where Africa’s most iconic wildlife roam. Spend your days exploring the conservancy on game drives, tracking lions, riding horses, cycling, or getting up close to the last two northern white rhinos on earth. In the evening, gather around the campfire to share the day's adventures with your favourite drink at hand.

Sanctuary Tambarare | Meals: BLD

Spend two days exploring the conservancy with day game drives and one night game drive included, where you’ll search for Africa’s most iconic species. Come face-to-face with the northern white rhinos, go lion tracking and learn all about conservation and anti-poacher efforts. In addition, there are plenty of activities for you to add (additional cost) ranging from a visit to the canine anti-poaching unit, horse riding across the African plains or guided walks to experience the sights, smells and sounds of the bush.

Sanctuary Tambarare | Meals: BLD

Fly south to the boundless plains of the world-famous Masai Mara. The reserve’s wide-open spaces and rich biodiversity make for effortless game viewing, particularly in this corner, considered one of the finest areas for wildlife in all of Africa. The unending landscape hosts some 450 bird species, 95 animal species and all of the great predators, including the country’s largest lion population. Transfer to the luxurious Sanctuary Olonana, an exclusive hideaway set on a private stretch of the Mara River.

Sanctuary Olonana | Meals: BLD

At Sanctuary Olonana, game viewing starts from the camp. Meet a pod of hippos that live in the river close by and venture forth for two full days of exploring the savanna, woodlands and tree-fringed rivers of the Masai Mara. Sanctuary's experienced guides take you to all the hidden spots in open safari vehicles with views from every angle. You might see a leopard retrieving its kill from the upper branches of an acacia, or an elephant protecting its young from opportunistic lions. Amid the stunning scenery, watch as Maasai tribesmen traverse the plains or herd goats and cattle. You will also be able to participate in the AKP Tree Planting Project, visit the neighbouring Maasai village or the AKP safe water initiative. Later, sip sundowners as you take in the beauty of the sunset colouring the Mara plains.
