Your day at Southern Ocean Lodge is yours to enjoy the inclusive activities at the lodge, or you may simply choose to relax and enjoy your spectacular surrounds. Along with the many experiences available, a series of walking trails commences from the lodge doorstep traversing limestone cliffs, bushland tracks and pristine beach shores: perfect for self-guided hikes. Southern Ocean Lodge's Signature Experiences are included in your stay.

Step
out for a guided walk traversing the limestone cliffs of Hanson Bay. Enjoy a
bird’s eye view of the Southern Ocean swell below while learning about the
diverse coastal ecology and the resilience of the Australian bush. Back at
the lodge, join an interpretive presentation delving into Kangaroo Island’s
discovery and fascinating natural heritage.

up the history of the early island settlers at Grassdale, a historic property
set nearby to the lodge. Sip South Australian beverages and nibble on snacks
while the last rays of sunlight cast a dusky glow over the landscape. Twilight
signals the time for shy-by-day marsupials to venture out from their resting
spots to graze in the open grassland.

Venture
to Hanson Bay Sanctuary to experience a very different kind of nightlife - the
sights and sounds of Kangaroo Island after dark. Spot koalas at their most
active and encounter kangaroos, wallabies and possums up close. Learn about
their behaviours whilst searching for other nightloving wildlife including
owls, bats and echidnas.
