Set off on a guided adventure of the historic Cotswolds, beginning with a visit to the market town Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare. Tour the 16th-century half-timbered house where it is believed he was born. Proceed to the nearby village of Shottery, where you visit Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, the childhood home of Shakespeare’s wife. After lunch, drive to Woodstock near Oxford to visit Blenheim Palace, the construction of which was begun in 1705 by the First Duke of Marlborough. Sir Winston Churchill was born here in 1874. Return to your hotel for an evening at leisure in Oxford.

Enjoy another full day in the Cotswolds, beginning amid the historic weavers’ cottages of Bibury’s picturesque Arlington Row. Pause for lunch in the former Roman trading hub of Stow-on-the-Wold, where you also tour the market square. Later, explore the thatched cottages, gabled roofs and colorful gardens of Great Tew.
