Tanzania

A land of snow-capped mountains, shimmering lakes, sensational beaches and, of course, phenomenal national parks and wildlife.

Home to Africa’s largest game reserve, highest mountain, deepest lake and most extraordinary wildlife spectacle, Tanzania is a captivating African microcosm and ripe for adventure.

It is a country of astounding contrasts offering exceptional, unforgettable experiences around every sun-drenched corner, teeming with extraordinary wildlife, high peaks, ancient craters, great lakes and a rich tribal culture.

Gaze over the endless plains of the Serengeti ecosystem, where the annual wildebeest migration plays out, and clamber through the primate-rich forest of the Mahale Mountains. Descend into the vast Ngorongoro Crater, its own captivating wildlife arena, and soak up the Arab influences on exotic Zanzibar. Discover the raw and lesser known swathes of wilderness in the Selous Game Reserve and scale the icy summit of Kilimanjaro. All of this awaits on an A&K journey to Tanzania.

When you travel to Tanzania with Abercrombie & Kent, you’ll be seeing the country at its singular best on a journey perfectly suited to you. Take the path less trodden staying on working coffee plantations, in intimate private camps located for the best wildlife viewing, boutique lodges where everything is on tap and mobile safari camps that move with the seasons. Meet local Maasai in their communities and marvel at Africa’s sunsets toasting your adventures over nightly sundowners on the savannah. And as an A&K guest you are invited to visit and participate in some of A&K Philanthropy’s inspirational community and conservation projects.

When to Go

The climate in Tanzania is typically warm all year round but do expect cool nights, especially in the Central Plateau. Coastal areas can be very hot and humid but benefit from a cool sea breeze between June and September. The area around Mount Kilimanjaro is generally cooler. The hottest time to visit is between October and February, and the rainy season falls mid-March to late May.
