COMO Uma Punakha is a wonderful creation of contemporary design that has been sculpted into the landscape. The Punakha Valley is breath-taking and Uma Punakha captures the essence of this beautiful area, sitting out on the stone terrace in the evening surrounded by the magnificent valley is a true indulgence of the senses.
The accommodation on offer is a selection of nine valley view rooms with floor to ceiling windows some with private terraces. The interior design is simple with neutral colours, sheesham-wood furniture and bright wall paintings by local artisans. There is also a one-bedroom villa and a two-bedroom villa, these villas are both freestanding and feel like a private house with their own large terrace perfect for private dining. Bathrooms are luxurious and spacious with a free standing bath tub and separate shower.
Uma Punakha has one restaurant: the Bukhari which serves both local and international cuisine. The chefs will happily prepare a sumptuous picnic if a whole day out in the valley is planned and private dining is also available on request. The food is delightful with only the freshest of ingredients used from this plentiful Bhutanese valley. A stay at Uma Punakha gives exceptional access to some of Bhutan's most celebrated landscapes and historic sites, including the famous Temple of the Divine Madman and the imposing Punakha Dzong.
