On arrival at Soneva Jani, guests are politely asked to remove their shoes. Footwear is then placed into a linen bag, and there it stays until it’s time to leave the island. In this little patch of paradise, shoes might as well represent worries or concerns – you shed them all when you make land here. Soneva Jani is the sister property of Soneva Fushi, which caused a step-change in the Maldives when it opened in 1995. The latest addition to the Soneva stable carries on the brand’s legacy in style.
A scenic 40-minute seaplane flight direct from Malé International Airport, Soneva Jani encompasses a collection of water villas and island sanctuaries set within a calm-inducing nearly six-kilometre lagoon of crystal clear waters, fringed by pristine beaches and blanketed in lush tropical greenery.
Spread across five islands in the Noonu Atoll, Soneva Jani is the perfect resort in which to have a Robinson Crusoe moment. Three of the five islets will remain undeveloped. On the two developed islets, there are one, two, three and four-bedroom villas to choose from and seven dining locations.
There’s a spa, library, gallery, overwater observatory, garden, labyrinth, outdoor cinema screenings, gym, yoga studio and cool kids’ club. Everything you could need for a Maldivian holiday.
